The Friday Five
1. What tastes best covered in chocolate? People. ...That's probably not what this question is asking, right? Okay, then, strawberries.
2. Why do you eat chocolate the way you do (or don't)? Chocolate is delicious. Especially now that I've given up cigarettes mostly, and there is really only so much cigar smoking you can do in a day, I've been eating more of it.
3. Do you know how chocolate is made? No.
4. If you knew you would live 5 years longer if you never ate any chocolate again, would you give it up? That's difficult. It would depend on what my lifespan is already. If I'm going to live to be 75, I won't give things up to live to 80. But if I'm going to die at 50, I'd give up that and plenty else for 5 more years.
5. Have you ever had carob? Yes, but I might have liked it better if it hadn't been a carob treat I'd gotten for the dog...

Oh, that's good. I love it.
...I've not been getting any sleep. Last time I slipped away from the studio for social time, I tried to hide behind sunglasses to pretend that it's not making me look a decade older, but honestly! Between this and feeling like I'm going to get fat by quitting cigarettes, I'm going to get vain in the process of fretting.
But the products of no sleep are many. If I slept, I'd never finish this work. And it's easier to have fun while overtired! Everything is amusing.

So I've gotten past the day of doom without exploding. Or imploding, which was the greater risk.
Though I should admit, I am having my own brand of midlife crisis. I'm out of things I'm willing to pierce (sorry, but ears are way too easy), so it's back to the drawing board, literally. I'm toying with new ink. I won't make any commitment (oh god, that was how I ended up with pierced nipples against my better judgment) but. It's a thought. Maybe. Maybe not. What better way to feel more comfortable with an aging body than to get really comfy and at home in it by decorating?
Work work work, eating my life. But I've really been wanting to socialize, so it's set me up for such a strange mood. Antsy, I guess. Well, long nights in the studio do that. It shouldn't be taking this long, it just is.

Today, I woke up on the wrong side of the bed feeling sad about being 40. Then I received this in the mail.
And then everything was better.
Thanks, asshole friend who will remain anonymous. I'll be sure not to fall prey to the reverse psychology attempt. That's right, I'm on to your plan to get me to prove such a book was unnecessary. If you wanted me to sleep with you, you should have just stuck with the vodka.

Happy New Year.
Spent it the right way, concert and partying until, well, I don't remember all the details. Just the way I was hoping. Ryo, thanks man for the invite.
Perhaps this year can be something of a clean, fresh start. I don't believe it really works that way, but in some small way.
The Friday Five
1. What is your biggest waste of time in your home? Video games. At least reading expands the mind. My motor skills don't really need the video game practice that badly.
2. When at work, what is the activity that you find wastes the most time? Logistics. Especially budget. It drives me insane and really makes it difficult to have any patience or energy for anything creative at all. It has to be done but it always takes longer than it ought.
3. When getting busy with a date or significant other, what ritual could you do without? Talking. If I want to fuck, I want to fuck. Certainly we've talked before and can talk again. But not too much while actually trying to have fun.
4. What is the biggest waste of time on the Internet? Anything gossipy. Life's interesting enough without prying into the supposed lives of others.
5. What do you do at a restaurant to waste time when waiting for your meal? Fold the napkins into shapes.

Alright, I supposed I'd better start working on my New Year's cards. I can't hold to this resolve.
Still, I don't feel very in the spirit of winter mirth, but I've gotten over the funk of just not wanting to deal with humanity. So I'll get my head out of my ass and act like a proper human being by retracting the stupid cranky.
